Business Properties

The City of Heidelberg offers a number of interesting real estates for enterprises in an interesting international business location. A list of the industrial sites, which are owned by the City and currently offered on the property market, can be viewed by any interested investor or enterprise (see 'Real estates available' on the left).

The worldwide recognised main foci of Biotechnology and Life Science, Information and Environmental Technology in Heidelberg is an expression of a unique cooperation between science and future-oriented enterprises. These main foci will continue to determine the economic development of Heidelberg and to be promoted by the City in the future. In addition to this, both traditional and young innovative enterprises of the processing industry, craft trades and service sector are supported by the City of Heidelberg and need sufficient, and above all appropriate, space for successful development in the location of Heidelberg.

This is why a modern development of industrial sites requires detailed information on the type of commercial use that is planned for the available spaces. It must be determined what will be established and where it will be best placed. As a first step towards this goal the Heidelberg Business Promotion in cooperation with an international planning and development company took a detailed inventory of all industrial sites situated within existing industrial zones and made proposals about the possibilities of development. The next step will be to establish a concept for the development of industrial sites, which will then be adopted as a binding action programme for the City – similar to the Housing Development Programme (WEP) – including a definite time schedule and taking quantitative and qualitative aspects into account.
