It is very important to the City of Heidelberg that its public toilets are easy to find. So...
To make sure visitors to the Old Town never have far for go to the nearest toilet, the city participates in the nationwide ‘nette Toiletten’ (community toilet) scheme. This means that there are now 29 publicly-accessible toilets in Heidelberg city center, with one toilet roughly every 50-100 meters between Karlstor gate and Bismarckplatz square.
The "nette Toiletten" can be easily identified by a red square symbol by the entrance of participating businesses. The locations of the ‘nette Toiletten’ can also be found on the information boards in the Old Town.
In some public toilets in the city center there are also baby feeding areas and changing tables. For the Old Town, these are indicated in the above table
