Multimedia exhibition

Join the Story

The large multimedia show brings history to life on 900 square meters. Using Heidelberg as an example, it shows how the historically close ties between Germans and Americans have developed, with all the ups and downs of this relationship. Since the end of the Second World War, Heidelberg has often been at the center of global political developments. Twenty-nine contemporary witnesses talk about this and about everyday life together in the digital dossier, which can be accessed via the tablet handed out to visitors at the entrance.

The tablet can be docked at various stations, including an interactive strategy game. In this simulation game, players must decide how to deal with opponents and allies, which strategies to choose for conflict resolution, or even whether to escalate the situation.

The exhibition is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 1 to 6 pm.

Admission is free.

In the strategy game you have to decide...
... de-escalate or risk nuclear war?
The tablet leads you ...
... through 200 years of german-american migration history.
You learn even more about the shared history of Americans and Germans...
... on a guided tour.
In each room contemporay witnesses tell their personal stories...
... which immediately load onto the tablet.
