Apply for admission to the vocational secondary school

Requirements for admission to class 1 of the upper level of the vocational upper secondary school:

• Proof of the intermediate school leaving certificate by
  • Realschulabschluss, Fachschulreife, educational level equivalent to the Realschulabschluss at the end of grade 10 of the Werkrealschule or the promotion certificate to grade 11 of a Gymnasium or to grade 10 or grade 11 of a Gymnasium with an eight-year course of education or the promotion certificate of a Gemeinschaftsschule at the end of grade 10 to a Gymnasiale Oberstufe. The school qualification requires an average grade of at least 3.0 in the subjects German, English, maths and in a science subject specified in the legal ordinance, whereby at least the grade "sufficient" must be achieved in each subject.
  • For all those who have not achieved these grades, as well as for all graduates of the "9 + 3" model, the following applies: If there are still places available in the class, these applicants can be admitted after an entrance examination.
  • The Fachhochschulreife certificate also entitles the holder to be admitted to class 1 of the upper level of the Berufsoberschule, provided that the following requirements are met in connection with the vocational qualification.
• Proof of vocational qualification through
  • completed vocational training with
    • Certificate from the vocational school or an equivalentequivalent level of education and
    • Completion of at least two years of vocational training in the industrial sector for the technical upper secondary school, in the commercial sector for the business upper secondary school and in the socio-educational or nursing sector for the vocational upper secondary school for social services in accordance with the training regulations or
  • relevant professional experience
    This should be conducive to attending the upper secondary vocational school and should last at least fiveyears.

Note: Particularly qualified applicants with a Fachhochschulreife can enter the second year of the Berufsoberschule directly. Please enquire about the exact requirements at the respective school.
